One of the ministries of the Edmund Rice Heritage Centre is an outreach to young people.
Brothers Sean Whitty and Ian Robertson together with Siobhán Ní Riain formed the Youth Ministry Team at Mount Sion since 2006. With Br. Sean's recent return to Canada, Br. Ian and Siobhán continue the Youth Ministry work in Mount Sion. Their aim is to develop and deliver a comprehensive Youth Ministry programme. The mission of the Youth Ministry Programme at the Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre is to foster a safe, caring, welcoming and sacred environment for young people to explore, experience and celebrate God's presence in their lives.
Programmes offered by Mount Sion Youth Ministry include:
Day Retreats/Reflection Days held in Mount Sion for all levels of Secondary School from 1st Year to 6th Year including Transition Years.
Encounter Experience for senior students which is a peer led, 2.5 day residential programme based on the themes of encounter oneself, significant others and God in one's life.
Evening Taizé Prayer, which is held throughout the year in the new Edmund Rice Chapel inviting people young and old into personal reflection, prayer and music in a warm and sacred atmosphere.
