Celtic Fiddlers from St. John's, Newfoundland Visit

The Celtic Fiddlers from St. John's, Newfoundland visited the Centre on July 22 and performed in the new Chapel.

Celtic Fiddlers - St John's NewfoundlandTheir musical director, Mrs. Korona Brophy, was the Instrumental Music teacher for many years at Brother Rice High School in St. John's. This particular group of young musicians play Irish-Newfoundland music which they thoroughly enjoy and have become well-known throughout eastern Canada. They range in age from twelve years of age to late twenties and have a vast repertoire of music.
 
Many of the musicians have a great association with the Brothers' schools in St. John's, Newfoundland.

 


Heritage Centre opened by An Taoiseach Bertit Ahern An Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahern, T.D. officially opened the completely refurbished Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre at Mount Sion, Barrack Street in Waterford on Friday, 8th February, 2008.

The religious dedication ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Waterford, Bishop Lee, on Sunday 3rd February, 2008.
